The total figures for French-speaking Belgian publishers give the appearance of a virtual status quo at €333 million (+0.6%, or +€2 million). But if we disregard the incredible success of Doctor Boxho's books, both in Belgian and export sales, the picture is completely reversed: down 1.5%, but still on a par with the good years of 2021 and 2022.
Overall, publishing activity is torn between digital production, which is once again on the rise, and significant losses in two very important segments in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation: youth and comics.

Book market
The year 2024 ended with a slight increase in total sales (+1.3% to €268.2 million). This increase can be attributed to just three publishing segments:
- General literature is up sharply (+12.2% in value).
- Educational publishing (+4.3%).
- The humanities and technical sciences segment.
