Description :
Santos is a professor of classical literature at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He lives on the coast of Galicia with his wife Lucía, a child therapist. Children of whom their couple is deprived. A pessimistic anarchist, a tad alcoholic and fighting against the survivals of Francoism, he is often the target of harassment from the Guardia Civil. But the Prestige sinks offshore and, with a cohort of volunteers, Santos fights against the oil slick that is sweeping over its beloved beaches. At dawn, on the rocks of Cabo Fisterra, he discovers an infant abandoned in a basket. He takes the child away with the intention of handing him over to the authorities, but returns home first. And the infernal machine engages. Lucía has disappeared, leaving a goodbye note, and Santos procrastinates in a dream of fatherhood. A dream that will turn into a nightmare. Imprisoned, accused of having kidnapped the child and murdered his wife, Santos, tells his lawyer the adventures of this terrible day and the events of his difficult life. But when you live in symbiosis with La Mancha and its legends, you are not fascinated with impunity by a certain Hidalgo with the Sad Face, which brings us to an unexpected ending. Poet, musician, singer-songwriter and teacher, François Degrande is a lover of Spain. The Shadow of a Root is his first novel.
